David Balinski

Chief Executive Officer

A native Philadelphian and Temple University graduate, David Balinski has built an illustrious career in Healthcare Administration spanning nearly 20 years. Leveraging his college internships at IMX Medical Management, Sanofi-Aventis Federal Government Affairs, and the NASI Workers’ Compensation Data Project, David was hired by RSI Insurance in 2005, serving prestigious clients such as Hugo Boss, Sirius Group, and Salvatore Ferragamo.

In 2008, RSI was acquired by Arthur J. Gallagher, presenting David with opportunities to lead health plan M&A efforts for Johns Hopkins and GE, and manage over 80 stop-loss renewals annually.

Demonstrating a strong desire to enhance health plan administration nationwide, David joined Continental Benefits TPA in 2013 and quickly became a national leader in Aetna PPO sales.

In 2018, David transitioned to a contractor role at Continental to establish his own sales and marketing company, Benefits Education & Delivery LLC. In addition to his entrepreneurial ventures, David invested in multiple early and mid-stage startups before co-founding Wire Health in 2022, the world’s first personalized and precision-based insurtech company focused on mental health services for self-funded employers.

Andrea Grubb Barthwell, M.D., D.F.A.S.A.M.

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Barthwell received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Wesleyan University and a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School. Following her post-graduate training at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University Medical Center, Dr. Barthwell began her practice in the Chicago area. She was a founding member of the Chicago Area AIDS Task Force, hosted a weekly local cable show on AIDS, and served as President of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).

In 1997, Dr. Barthwell was recognized as one of the “Best Doctors in America” in addiction medicine. In 2003, she was honored with the Betty Ford Award by the Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse.

From 2002 to 2004, Dr. Barthwell served as Deputy Director for Demand Reduction in the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) under President George W. Bush. In this role, she was a principal policy advisor for reducing the demand for illicit drugs.

Dr. Barthwell’s enduring commitment to individuals with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) led to her role as the founding Chair of the Board of the Foundation for Opioid Response Effort (FORE), managing a $100 million endowment. Her work has focused on developing strategies to expand access to treatment for opioid dependence, enhancing practitioner knowledge of urine drug testing in the identification and treatment of substance use disorders, and assisting individuals and families in preventing substance use disorders.

In addition to her role as Chief Medical Officer at Wire Health, Dr. Barthwell is the founder of Encounter Medical Group, P.C., a consultant with EMGlobal, a global healthcare policy firm, and a Director at Two Dreams, a comprehensive alcoholism and addiction treatment system.

Jamin Ferner

Chief of People

Jamin Ferner is an Executive Healthcare Solutions Strategist with over 25 years of experience in people management, human resource management, retail, management, and marketing. Growing up in California and New Jersey, Jamin pursued an undergraduate degree in Communications and a graduate degree in Non-Profit and Museum Management from Drexel University.

Throughout his career, Jamin has held key management positions for notable brands such as ADT, Blockbuster Inc., Limited Brands, CVS, and Apple. He has operationalized the opening of numerous retail locations and offices across the United States, with additional responsibilities for talent acquisition and staffing. Jamin has also supported multiple startups in the healthcare space and consulted with companies on HR, operations, and team building/retention.

Jamin’s extensive experience in people management culminated at Apple, where he successfully managed 97 direct reports. As a co-founder of Wire Health, Jamin leverages his exceptional people skills in his role as Chief of People Officer. His responsibilities include building and maintaining the Wire Health team, overseeing client communications, and focusing on team programs and operations.

Iris Hood

Director of Care and Relations

Iris S. Hood, MA, serves as the Director of Care and Relations at Wire Health, where they have excelled in leading the expansion of the care coordination department since 2022. In this capacity, Iris ensures that both members and providers receive the resources and support necessary to meet evolving needs. They are instrumental in developing and codifying departmental processes and procedures, onboarding new staff, and collaborating closely with leadership to advance Wire Health’s mission.

Passionate about mental health, Iris is committed to enhancing access to high-quality care that respects and aligns with the needs and values of individuals. Iris holds a Master of Arts in Psychology from The New School and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bard College at Simon’s Rock. Currently, Iris is pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at Keuka College to further enhance their impact in the mental health field.

Beverly Thompson

Director of Contracting

Beverly is a city girl who loves to engage in outdoor activities, photograph her travels, and experience new adventures throughout life. With over 20 years of experience working in industries ranging from start-ups to large corporations, she finds nothing more satisfying than meeting new people and contributing to the overall growth of a business.
